New languages added to The Reading Corner: Farsi and Papiamentu

We are proud to present: story time videos in Farsi and Papiamentu!

In addition to the existing story time videos in Syrian Arabic, Moroccan Arabic, Turkish, and Polish, videos in Farsi and Papiamentu are now also available. Everything comes together in the meertalige voorleesfilmpjes toolkit. The place where you can find everything you need to know about multilingualism and reading aloud in the home language. In the toolkit, aimed at (library) professionals, you will find:

• The multilingualism guide with tips and background information;
• Direct access to the story time videos with a library subscription via jeugdbibliotheek.nl/meertalige-voorleesfilmpjes;
• Posters & flyers, customizable in library style, available in six languages, with QR codes to the appropriate story time videos.

On October 9, we kicked off the launch with a festive session with reading media consultants from Bonaire. Together with all our partners, we celebrated the addition of Farsi and Papiamentu.

“What touches me is how parents feel seen when their mother tongue is truly accepted. Reading aloud in the language of your heart not only strengthens the bond with your child, but also lays a solid foundation for all further language development,” says Jakeema, reading media consultant in Bonaire.
